Savvy Idea: Live by the Platinum Rule, not the Golden Rule. How you want to be treated is not as important as how the other person wants to be treated.
Recently, I was having a conversation with a fellow entrepreneur, and we started talking about many interpersonal topics: networking, hiring the right people, and working with teams on the same page.
Through it, she mentioned a really cool concept, in the same vein of “the Golden Rule”, yet just a little different than it—“the Platinum Rule”.
A quote from the author of “The Art of People”, Dave Kerpen, shares:
"We all grow up learning about the simplicity and power of the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would want done to you.
It's a splendid concept except for one thing:
Everyone is different, and the truth is that in many cases what you'd want done to you is different from what your partner, employee, customer, investor, wife, or child would want done to him or her."
Knowing how people work and adhering to their needs can go a long way.
It may take an extra bit of brainpower, but understanding this small mindset shift is game-changing to networking better, helping reduce conflict within teams, and being able to adhere to the needs of those around you.
Questions to ponder: 🤔
What areas of your life do you need to live out “the Platinum Rule”?

House of Genius
I met someone who shared about this thing called “House of Genius”.
It’s pretty cool because they bring entrepreneurs and a diverse mix of collaborators from the community for an evening each month in order to have disruptive thinking, supportive input, and creative new ideas.
You can either participate to be a panelist or an entrepreneur, but you can only do each once! Afterward, you can’t do it ever again, so you’d better not waste your shot on it!
I’m hoping to use it once I have an idea worth presenting! I’d love to see y’all do one too.
99 Additional Bits of Unsolicited Advice
Found this old guy who shares interesting thoughts, and he shared some cool unsolicited advice:
“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals. At your funeral people will not recall what you did; they will only remember how you made them feel.”
“When a child asks an endless string of “why?” questions, the smartest reply is, “I don’t know, what do you think?””
It is much easier to change how you think by changing your behavior, than it is to change your behavior by changing how you think. Act out the change you seek.
and this final one:
If you meet a jerk, overlook them. If you meet jerks everywhere everyday, look deeper into yourself.

Verse of the Week
“Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”

Challenging Quote
“When making something, always get a few extras — extra material, extra parts, extra space, extra finishes.
The extras serve as backups for mistakes, reduce stress, and fill your inventory for the future.
They are the cheapest insurance.”

Weekly Update
Personal life stuff… 🔔
Hello friends,
Greetings from Austin! 👋 Let’s jump right in!
We finally breached 200+ subscribers on this newsletter! 🎉
It took 300 days for the first hundred, and 176 days for the second.
The goal is to hopefully get the third in 100 days! We’ll see how that goes.
That aside, this past week has been tiring and humbling. I’ve been learning to be better at asking for help and be okay with being dependent on others whether being stretched too thin, even when I face the lie of feeling like I’m a burden. (A continued lifelong process.)
Regarding my career, I’ve been pondering a bit on the future, as I’m currently a Software Engineer, but I’ve never felt I want to be a software engineer long-term.
Hearing the stories other people share have helped me recognize and reflect on what I enjoy, and I’m discovering that I have a huge love for product—ideation, creation, and iteration.
With that, if any of y’all happen to know any early-stage startups or people who are looking for extra help with product management, please let me know!
Anyways, here are several pictures from this past week: 📷
Thanks for reading this week! Hope y’all are pushing through in life, and let me know if y’all have any prayer requests or need help on anything.
Would love to support any way I can.
With that, stay safe 😷, keep it savvy 😎, and I’ll see y’all in the next update 😊
