Prioritize Your Jar of Tasks - (Bonus Topics: Better Structured Prayer App, etc...)

Savvy Idea: Your time & energy is like a jar. You only have so much space to allocate for your tasks, so prioritize it wisely. Fill up your time first with “rocks'“, then “pebbles”, and fill in the gaps with “sand” as needed.
A while back, I had listened to Tribe of Mentors by Tim Ferris, and from it, I got to hear Drew Houston, founder of Dropbox, share about the importance of prioritizing time and tasks, as we only have a limited amount of space to allocate both.
He compares prioritization of tasks and time to filling a jar with rocks, pebbles, and sand.
Rocks were large tasks that took up a lot of time, but were of most utmost importance, creating the most impact. Ex. Being responsible to teammates, self, family, and health.
Pebbles were medium-sized tasks that took up some time and had an average impact. Ex. Unsolicited requests made by co-workers, picking up a side project.
Sand was small tasks that were trivial, took up no time, yet had little to no impact. Ex. Answering email, reading & responding to messages, etc…
The takeaway he shares is to be conscious of choices made with time, and make sure to allocate time to focus on the rocks.
Practically, it means doing things like scheduling out specific blocks of time for work on the “rocks”, like sleep and exercise.
This also means being open to working on “pebbles” outside of the set time for rocks.
And finally, it means reducing as much time spent working on “sand”.
By prioritizing the tasks by size, what’s most important gets done, and time can be allocated to continue to make an impact elsewhere (and prevent yourself from wasting time).

Greetings from Austin! 👋 Let’s jump right in!
This past week has been socially and physically exhausting, but good! I’ll be keeping this update short.
I’ve been trying to rebuild habits, and started to go to the gym to do strength workouts, as well as sleep and wake up early! (10:30PM sleep times and 5:30AM times are wild)
I’ve found that I have a lot more time in the morning to focus and do devotions and prayer as well as any non-work stuff for ministry or entrepreneurship.
Also, me and a friend created a TikTok video!
There’s a trend going around involving saying inspirational words and ending with the Adult Swim logo vibes, and we mimicked it with onions. Give it a like and give me a follow if you’re on the zoomer app.
Final note, I accidentally but emailed someone (don’t know how that happened).
